🔯Project catch-up launched for addressing learning gap of students in Chirang🔯

📝Kajalgaon, April 25: "In the last couple of years, the COVID-19 pandemic had caused abrupt and profound effect to education system in the country, especially to those students who were reading in class I to V during that time. That had been created a big learning gap for the students.The online classes provided to them was also could not able to cover that loss. So, observing the future of such students, Chirang district administration in association with the education department and The ANT (NGO) under the leadership of Chirang Deputy commissioner Narendra Kumar Shah has decided to fill up this gap by providing special class for four months to the students suffered owing to COVID-19 pandemic".

This was stated by Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Minister for Handloom and Textile, Sericulture, Soil Conservation and Welfare of bodoland department while launching the Project Catch-up, an innovative initiative undertaken by the Chirang district administration to help recover learning gap of the children due to COVID-19 by providing effective remedial classes in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narjary, MLAs Jayanta Basumatary, Ajoy Kumar Ray, BTC MCLA Madhab Chandra Chetry and a host of dignitaries, in a function held at Sidli- Kashikotra Higher Secondary School on Monday.He said that this project would be implemented involving all the district officials of education department and teachers of the district and hoped that they would play key roles in ensuring the success of the project so as to set it a model for Assam.

In his welcome address, Deputy Commissioner, Chirang, Narendra Kumar Shah said, The core idea behind the project catch-up is to teach students for one extra hour just after the mid-day meal for coming four months. The aim is to provide basic minimum level of competency of languages (Assamese, Bodo, English) and Maths. The training module and other materials for the same is being prepared in consultation with Education Department. In this regard, the District Administration Chirang, seeks support from all the primary school teachers of Chirang district to give one hour per day and make the project Catch-up, a fruitful one".He informed that the project Catch-up would be implemented in all 940 Lower primary schools and upper primary schools of the district.

Rajya Sabha MP Rwngwra Narjary, MLAs Jayanta Basumatary and Ajay Kumar Roy and MCLA Madhab Chandra Chetry also addressed the gathering and thanked the district administration for undertaking such innovative initiative to bridge the learning gap of children due to COVID-19 pandemic in the last two years.The programme was also attended by heads of educational institutions, representatives of School Management and Development Committees and District Teachers Association.
