📝Bongaigaon,Feb 10 :Dr  Hemoprova Borthakur, Hon'ble Chairperson, Assam State Commission for Women along with Smt. Lucky Gogoi, Member, Assam State Commission for Women held a meeting with the Bongaigaon District Level Women Cell on 10th February 2022 in the Conference Hall of DC Office, Bongaigaon. In the meeting, Dr. M S Lakshmi Priya, IAS,Deputy  Commissioner,Bongaigaon highlighted the unique schemes and projects undertaken by the District Administration for the welfare of women in the district such as Project Sampoorna, Project Saubhagya and Project Samriddhi.The activities and role of District Women Cell in preventing crime against women in the district was also highlighted. The Hon'ble Chairperson appreciated the activities undertaken by the District Administration and Women Cell for the welfare of women and stressed on the importance of reaching out to all sections of women by creation and proper functioning of Sub divisional and Block level Women Cells. She particularly focused on the functioning of Block Level Women Cell so that victimised women do not have to travel long distances to seek help. The members of the District Cell were urged to conduct meetings at the grass root level regarding women safety and welfare and to intensify existing efforts towards awareness generation. She further stressed on holding meetings of District Women Cell once in a month so that maximum cases are registered, heard and disposed off at the earliest. 

The Hon'ble Chairperson also interacted with prominent Social Workers of the District and appreciated them for their untiring efforts towards women welfare and safety. She urged the District Women Cell to develop strong coordination with Government Departments, Police, Judiciary, Civil Society Organizations and Social Activists to ensure timely protection to victimised women. The Hon'ble Chairperson also interacted with Centre Administrator of Sakhi: One Stop Centre and took stock of the overall administration of the Centre. Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of  District Women Cell, Bongaigaon Dr. M. S Lakshmi Priya, IAS welcomed the directives and suggestions put forwarded by the Hon'ble Chairperson, Assam State Commission for Women and assured timely implementation of the same for further strengthening of the District Women Cell.    

The Chairperson of the Assam State Commission for Women also visited One Stop Centre,Bongaigaon.🔯
